Suspending business with China is economic suicide for the entire global economy if it’s undertaken by overt governmental policy. Not to mention it will exacerbate the onset of WW3 as China is – as of this moment – a fully vested member of the WTO and would be armed with a plausibly terrifying legitimate grievance.

An equally powerful and likely more clever option would be to transform – as individuals – our consuming culture within the U.S. and support American producers and merchants with our pocketbooks first BEFORE overtly targeting the world trade order with clumsy overwrought policy. That way our sluggish and reactive political systems don’t bungle the effort by turning a behavioral cultural shift into an overt policy war – be it Cold or Hot.

Not saying not to do that. . . just saying not to do that FIRST.

Policy is the art of inducing false scarcity and division in the minds of human beings. . at its best it is still awful. Rare is the moment where one encounters truly noble action in politics. Most of it is reactive dribble. Including mine here.

Yeah, giving China the Olympics (and their abysmal handling of it) tells you all you need to know. Neoliberal economic policies have failed, given power to those who do not deserve it, and made us all slaves to a system that elevates economic profit over humanity. You will own nothing and you will be happy.
